The legislation would increase Michigan's tourism promotion budget from 42nd lowest in the nation to competitive levels with other states. The results: More tourism jobs, more revenues for your community and more tourists in Michigan.
It will take years for new industries to be planted and jobs to grow from the 21st Century Jobs Fund. But the jobs and revenue boost from tourism promotion is almost immediate, making tourism a bridge from where Michigan 's economy is... to where we all want it to be.

We need you to contact your state legislators today and tell them to pass Senate Bill 690 to invest in Michigan tourism. In addition to your legislator, we also need to communicate with members of the state Senate Appropriations Committee and House Appropriations Committee, where the bill is currently pending. We'd encourage you to send a copy of your e-mail to each of these members.
You can contact your legislator by phone, email or by composing a message on your own letterhead. When contacting lawmakers, the best messages are personal and individual. - I urge you to vote "yes" on state Senate Bill 690 to invest in one of Michigan's largest employers, the tourism industry.

- This legislation does not require a tax increase or new fees or assessments on Michigan residents or tourists. It's time for the state to support the tourism industry much like it supports our other major job producing industries and at a level that is competitive with other states. Michigan's tourism promotion budget is woeful, ranking 42nd lowest in the nation.
